I took a palette knife and covered a mini canvas with Fiber Paste, turning the knife in different directions to create a rough texture.
Here it is dried…
Then I took some PaperClay and sculpted some hearts and wings. This is the same stuff I used to make my tiny cardinals. It’s an air dry clay and light weight. I needed the lightness of this clay or the canvases would be too off balance and fall over.
The clay pieces were attached to the canvas with hot glue.
“Fired Brick” Distressing Ink was sponged onto the heart.
I think this would make a cool little Valentine’s gift!
Here’s another one I made, this time cutting part of the heart off before it dried…
Only one wing this time, details in the feathers are made with a toothpick.
Heart glued onto the canvas as if pushing out from the inside and more fiber paste added around the base of the heart.
Ink added again, softly with a sponge…
The word ‘freedom’ was glued on and then fiber paste added around the edges..
I love the way the paper clay and fiber paste look together! I’ve already got some more of these in the works, but on a much larger scale.
If you want to make some of your own little sculpted heart Valentine’s, here’s a supply list:
* Paper Clay
*Red Distressing Ink
*Words from book text (optional)
Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend! Valentine’s Day is exactly one month away!
