Paper Roll Pillow Boxes

Last spring I posted some cute rabbits made from paper rolls.

And just a few weeks ago I showed you how to turn paper rolls into

pretty napkin rings and place-card holders.

Now I hope you’ve been saving your rolls because here’s a third idea using this common recycle bin item:

Tiny pillow boxes!  Perfect for small gifts, money, gift-cards, candy…so many possibilities….

For gift-card holders you’ll need paper towel rolls.  Cut 7″ for a pillow box large enough to hold a standard gift card.

I cut some rings from the leftover roll, painted them red, and shaped them into hearts to tie onto the boxes.

It’s easy and fun to make these little pillow boxes and there are limitless ways to decorate them.

Thanks for coming by!

  1. I’d like to try this. Can I ask a stupid question? – what are you doing with the paper-creasing knife thing in the second picture? Also, what do you call that wooden tracing pencil thing, so I can order one? (Can you tell I’m a novice?!) Thank you. Also – love the choice of music, what is it please?

    1. @Jane –In the second photo I was using the bone folder to give the outer edges a really firm fold. It’s easier to work with when the folds are done well at the beginning. The wooden thing is a stylus, they come in a variety of styles and are usually used for dry embossing crafts. I’m so glad you like this project and I hope that helps! The music is ‘The Milanese Nightingale’ by John Williams, from the film score to “The Adventures of Tintin”. Have a great week!

  8. These are too cute! Love them. I would recommend using wrapping paper rolls, too many people I’ve seen on Pinterest are using toilet paper rolls instead. Yuk!

    1. Thanks, Jody, I appreciate your comment! I’ve used both types of rolls but definitely prefer paper towel rolls or wrapping paper. You can cut them into more customized sizes, as well! have a great week!
