Blue Owl Postcards

I made these postcards using the owl stamp I carved and my Derwent Inktense blocks.

We didn’t have much of a winter here in central Texas, so the only snow I’ll see  is the sn0w in my art.

I stamped the owls in blue, then added more color with the blocks, and then finally added some more details with my .03 black pen.

A phrase crafted from book text…

Using a water pen to blend the Inktense colors in the background…

Red cheeks and red berries added with the Inktense blocks…

Lots of sparkly glitter in the forest…

I used some white ‘Fun Flock”  to add snow to the branch…

Thanks for visiting my blog and looking at my art projects!

Have a great week~

Hand-Carved Owl Stamp

I’ve always wanted to try and carve my own stamp!

I haven’t been able to find an owl stamp I like so I used this owl I made last year as my inspiration.

I traced it onto the block and filled in the general shapes with a permanent pen.

Then I experimented with the different blades.

Carving is messy but fun!

Here’s the finished owl stamp, inked in brown so you can see it better…

I made some cards by brayering ‘Faded Jeans’ Distress Ink onto the card, rolling it on darker at the top…

Stamped the owl in brown…

Made a mask to cover the owl…

Then I inked this tree trunk stamp (Hero Arts) in the ‘Faded Jeans’ and stamped over the masked owl…

Then I took a white gel pen and added two dots in his eyes and some light snow…

These cards are available in Knox’s Etsy shop.  All proceeds go to Cockayne Syndrome research.

Hope you’re having a great weekend, thanks for coming by!

Steampunk Card for Nurse C.

Knox’s sweet Nurse C. is shakin’ the Texas dust from her boots and headin’ west!

She likes Steampunk stuff so this is a ‘farewell’ card I made for her.

This was my first attempt at making something ‘Steampunk’ so not sure if I did the genre justice, but it was fun to make.  I pieced it together using images from the Internet since I don’t have any stamps or papers in this style (but now I want some!).

Thank you Nurse C.!

We are so grateful for your kind and loving care for our sweet boy over the last few months.  You have been a great blessing to our family and we will miss you!

Love, Knox and family
