The candy wrapper swap at Archiver’s is this Wed. and I actually got my cards done a day early (not the norm!).
I stamped and colored this cute little owl, cut him out (thirteen times to be exact) and glued him onto black ATCs.
And now for the hard part….
It was a struggle to consume enough candy for these cards, but I managed somehow.
I added glowing moons, bats flying in the distance, and stars in background . Then, I used my .05 ZIG pen to add more detail and long eye-lashes. I used my paper piecer to poke holes for stringing on signs, cut out the beaks and stuck them on with foam tape, and finally, with the help of my x-acto knife, I cut out his talons and stuffed a candy wrapper in his clutches.
I think owls deserve a little treat after their hard night’s work, don’t you?
One thing I’ve noticed at these swaps is that they prefer cards with lots of dimensional stuff. The more stuff that sticks up off the card the better. Can’t wait to see the other wrapper designs!
I’ve never had such a struggle to come up with ATCs as I did for this swap! The theme was, “It’s a Zoo Out There”. I couldn’t find anything in my stash o’ stuff with animals. Then I thought of professional working women wearing animal print fashions…so that’s what I went with.
With the help of these obliging magazine models, I tried to create “ladylike” women wearing leopard print. Each one has a large leopard corsage and black sunglasses. They are supposed to be working women in the crazy “zoo” of corporate America.
I hope I’m not the only one that took a more abstract view of this theme! Oh well…. I haven’t been kicked out of an ATC swap yet.
I was told to make 10, which means I’ll get 9 new cards for my collection. (one is for the store)
The theme: “Endless Summer”.
The colors: teal, orange, and yellow.
These are supposed to look like little summer vacation postcards from the seaside.
I knew right away I wanted to use some drink umbrellas. They are so cute!
The background decorative papers are from KC & Company– a new pack called “Que Sera Sera“.
I used some teal-ish colored Martha Stewart paint cards I had on hand for the sea.
Found these bright floral paper napkins in the kitchen. The yellow flowers made great suns.
Then I added a postal stamp on the upper left.
And some palm branches on the right …
I spread some glue on the ‘beach’ and sprinkled on some sand..(yep, the real stuff)..
I could only find one shell in my stash that was small enough, so this one will be the card for the store.
Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your visit to my blog so much. I know that my son’s illness has changed the overall feel of this blog in the last few months. I’m so thankful some of you have stuck around. xoxo ~Scarlett
