December 7th

I know.  It’s a different kind of picture.

It’s not the eye-candy you were expecting, but our December 7th turned out to be a different sort of day.

My 4 month old baby boy had his 5th eye surgery. Yes, 5th.

He was born with cataracts in both eyes and has had quite a struggle up to this point.  Last week we found out that his right eye had clouded over again, this time with scar tissue.  Whenever the doctors say, “it’s unlikely” our sweet little dude proves otherwise.

Hopefully this is it.

Last time.  Eyes clear.  Staying clear.

Through the Lord’s mercy and grace, this little dumpling will see his first Christmas lights.

I pray so desperately that this will be it, and it will all be clear for the future!.

  3. 5 is my lucky number and I hope it is your son’s! He is such a precious, bundle of joy. I didn’t know this could happen; I feel your pain! I hope n’ pray, that 5 is the end of this matter! enJOY your wonderful son this holiday season!

  4. What a brave little boy! And what brave parents right there with him. After my daughter was born, they found an unexplained growth near her spine, and we ended up doing a battery of tests for the first few months of her life. We spent Christmas Even of her first year in the pediatric imaging unit having an MRI done. She was sedated for it and I couldn’t go in with her. It was horrifying.

And yet, I can’t imagine what it’s like for you having so many surgeries already in so few months. And how scary to have the genetic tests done.

I am SO glad to hear that the tests came back with good news. And I hope God will grace him with even more good news for his eyes.
