Yep, still in the hospital with baby boy. I had to bow out of the “A to Z” challenge for obvious reasons. This is one of those times when art is the only way I can express what’s on my heart.

“Rare Disorder”
I’ve been in the hospital with my baby son for 5 days. He stopped eating and they suspect he has a very rare genetic disorder…. And I don’t know what else to say.
A Card for Him
No, it’s not my wedding anniversary. I just needed to let him know how I feel. Having a child with a serious illness puts strain on a relationship like nothing else does. Tensions are high. It’s easy to fall into traps: “This is your fault.” “If you would’ve done “X” differently […]
Super Art Friday-“Painting Redbud Branches”
The Redbud trees are so beautiful this time of year. I snapped this photo for my daughter to use as a painting inspiration. I gave her a piece of legal sized aged parchment paper. I can tell that she values an art project more when I give her quality art papers and supplies, […]

The Antique Mall is becoming one of my favorite places these days. I layered the portrait with some pink stained cheese-cloth, decorative […]
Antique Baby Portrait Card
When I go to antique stores I look for old photos. I love to find baby portraits in good condition. I love the old-fashioned dresses they wore (the girls and the boys!) and their sweet expressions. I always wonder how something that was so precious to someone at one time wound up for sale in an antique […]
Super Art Friday-“Draw 50 Series-Buildings and Other Structures”
For our art project today, my young artist wanted to try her hand at drawing architecture. The “Draw 50” books by Lee Ames are a great way to help kids tackle more difficult subjects. This one shown is the “Draw 50-Buildings and Other Structures” but there are 27 others in the series: birds, airplanes, horses, etc. She […]
