These silly photos are my confession: I absolutely love a fresh, soft candy corn. Those little conical candies of sugary sweetness have always been my favorite treat during the fall months.
Loving them like I do, they are on my mind frequently once they hit the shelves. I had to create some photos to illustrate my love for the corns.
I fill up a bowl or two and set them out when the days turn colder. I love their cousins, the mellowcreme pumpkins, just as much.
As you can see from the pictures, I tend to think of them in their full serving size of 20 (or more). My many years with Weight Watchers, however, have trained me in the fine art of portion control and I have the corn’s nutritional value down by heart. The corns are approximately 7.5 cal. each, making 8 corns equal to 1 point.
But who can eat just 8?
Not me.
Not long ago, however, I discovered a solution to my corn cravings.
These tiny wonders of corn syrup and colored dyes often get jostled in the bag. The white tips break off and gather at the bottom. This is not widely known, but you, dear reader, can take it from me, that these broken tips have no calories at all.
Feel free, as I do, to snack on those broken bits without guilt.
It must be the real honey inside each one that makes them so irresistible! Apparently, I’m not alone in my love for candy corns. On the back of the bag it says,”…each year Americans eat enough Brach’s candy corn that if the kernels were laid end to end, they would circle the Earth 4.5 times.[5]
Wow.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
LOL!! And thanks for the nutrition tip about the white tips!
I feel exactly the same way that you do about candy corn! LOVE the pics….looks like you are having a wonderful time daydreaming about our favorite fall treat!
