Yep, it’s another pic. from Washington. Blackberry bushes surrounded our apartment complex in Bothell and were heavy-laden with ripe, sweet berries for several weeks toward the end of the summer. Every day, in between showers, we would head out for a walk and a snack. That was the first time I’d ever been on a walk where the snack was free for the picking. At first, I almost expected someone to pop out of the forest saying “that’ll be $10 for the berries folks.” But no one ever did and it was a special treat for us during that difficult time of adjustment. Our neigbors picked as well and shared cobbler recipes-good stuff!
When I saw this picture I immediately thought of the passage in John 15 that speaks of bearing fruit for God. I pray that all my children will bear fruit as sweet and plentiful as these blackberry bushes did that summer and that many people will be blessed by the fruit of their hands.
