This porcelain doll was mine when I was a little girl. I collected porcelain dolls when I was young, and this is one of the few that have survived our many moves. Last Sunday afternoon I got the urge to take some pictures and decided to stage a little scene with this doll. I admit, I still love dolls, especially older antique porcelain dolls in some sort of period or ethnic attire.
I retrieved a small wooden rocking chair from my daughter’s closet and went out to stage the pictures. It was about 5:25 p.m. and the sunlight was warm and golden.
On my walk earlier in the day I had happened upon a pretty pink rose that had blown down the sidewalk from another yard. I could more easily dismiss a dollar bill on the ground than a flower in full bloom! I quickly picked it up and brought it home. Finders, keepers.
For the photos I simply nestled the doll in the chair and tucked the rose in beside her. Some were taken on Auto, then I set my F-stop to the lowest setting to capture as much of the late afternoon sunlight as I could. I also took some using the “Snow” setting, which had some interesting effects, though I have no idea what the setting actually does. I had fun editing these to look as pretty and dreamy as possible.
Whether you still like to play with dolls or not, I hope you enjoy these photos!
Breathtakingly beautiful!!! Lovely…ahhhh….I don’t have more words….
