    • Thanks, Lee. I’ll never forget doing your A to Z (3 years ago now?) challenge. It was the perfect distraction while we were waiting to get a definitive diagnosis for Knox. I knew something was very wrong but the blog challenge kept my mind occupied. It’s what I needed at the time. Have a blessed week, Scarlett

  2. This is so powerful and I absolutely love it. xxx

    • Thank you so much, Lisette. You are a precious lady to me, you know that? You are one of the very special people who met Knox and held him while he was here with us. I’ll never forget it, and I’ll never forget all you’ve done for Amy and Friends and helping to raise awareness of this syndrome. Sending love across the ocean, Scarlett

  3. I am so sorry Scarlett. Nothing can ease that pain except Jesus- He knows. Not one tear is wasted with Him; He loves you as His precious daughter and is holding Knox in His loving arms. I am praying for you to find the room filled with warm sunlight and the rest of the millions of butterflies (very soon). ~s

    • Thanks so much, Sue. I’m grateful to know you and have you as a friend. Thank you for your encouragement, I truly need it. Blessings, Scarlett

  4. This is stunning, Scarlett. I can’t in any way imagine the grief this was created from… I hurt for you. <3

    • Thank you, Jessie. The photos you took of Knox will always be among my very favorites. You captured him during his best days, smiling with chubby cheeks. Thank you for the kind words. Blessings to you and your family, Scarlett

  5. So symbolic and moving. What a stunning creation. This is a great way for you to let those feelings out. Beautifully done, thanks for sharing with us. We’re all here for you.

  7. Scarlett, this is so beautiful… it just says so much in the most amazing way… i have followed your blog for some time & knox so sweetly captured my <3 i couldn't help but marvel at how you turn such simple, little pieces of the plain and ordinary into something that always speaks – of beauty – of newness, of transformation. it's like u have the perfect gift to express what u live. it's amazing. i can't stop looking at this painting. as a pastor's wife, i have held and walked with many people with aching hearts. It's not hard to get lost in the dark, but those with even a tiny glimmer of Light can continue to at least move forward and find a way. i love that in your painting, even tho it is dark, there is still a warmth – it's not cold and lonely. it is sad, but there is such a warmth of love. thank you so much for sharing your life, your family and your work with us. we're all with u. xo

    • Hi Kate, thank you for these lovely thoughts you’ve left for me. You know, I almost named this piece “Glimmer of Light”, thinking the very thoughts you expressed…wonderful to hear that the painting drew that out, even with a different title. I appreciate your words more than I can say, thank you again for taking the time to write them. Blessings to you and your family, Scarlett

  8. Dear Scarlett – you captured grief and you captured you looking for Knox at his new heavenly home … I completely agree with everyone’s comments – you’ve expressed your thoughts and feelings so well ..

With a few hugs and lots of thoughts – Hilary

    • Hilary, thank you for coming by and for your sweet words about the painting. Impossible to tell you how much it means to me that you came up to meet Knox and I last fall while we were over in the UK. You saw him while he was here with us and that sets you apart forever! A huge hug back to you dear friend, Scarlett

  9. Scarlett, this painting is beautiful and moving. Thoughts be with you. <3

    • Thank you, Chrissy, I appreciate your kind words very much, means a lot to me. Have a blessed week, Scarlett

  10. Scarlett,
I came across your website randomly from a Pinterest post. I have followed you through this journey. I have learned about a disease I knew nothing about.I have seen beautiful art …as medicine, hope and expression. Though we have never met, nor have I ever commented, my heart sank deeply the day your son passed away. Though I have walked through grief many times, the path has never been the same. Each road as unique as the traveler…the one on the road and the one that walk it before all the way to heaven. As dark and painful as the days ahead will be, I pray for a peace that passes understanding, a grace when there is no answer and a confidence in no matter what, their is a light to guide you and hands to carry you when you don’t feel like you can go on. Prayers for you and your family. When words will probably bring no comfort, at least know there are people who are grateful for you, the life of Knox, and they are praying for you when the words don’t come.

    • Thank you, Pamela. Your words are kind and gracious. I appreciate you taking the time to write these encouraging thoughts… I’ve read them three times already. Thank you for your prayers, your understanding, and for even typing Knox’s name…it makes me happy to see it. Many blessings to you and your family, Scarlett

    Paint your heart well again.

Your art has served as medicine for you and so many. Each piece really draws me each time I look at it and leads me to a different place, depending on the day. I pray for you daily that you will be okay and that the Lord walk this road paved with grief and free your heart from the pain I know that you feel. I will never know your pain but know that I will always be your friend and lift you in prayer at each and every opportunity! Much love!

  13. A very moving painting, lots of great texture and colour created in the image and lots of emotion, too!

I am glad that there is a lantern to help light the way in the darkness of grief, leading you into hope. xoxo

I found your website because of a pinterest post of your miniature stationery kit and was about to make a silly comment about how you are my hero because of it being so wonderful. And then I scrolled through your site. I am so very sorry to learn of your horrendous loss. It is beautiful that you are making the world so joyful with what you do, even in the midst of your pain. My prayers and thoughts go to you, and my sincerest thanks for giving us all something to look at that is inspiring. I wish you peace, and love.

    • Scarlett

Thank you so much, Jamie. I appreciate you taking the time to leave these words of encouragement. Have a blessed week ~Scarlett
