This is not a new piece but it is my first mixed-media piece to get published. I’m just a teensy bit proud of it, so I thought I’d share some pics. Somerset Studio is an extra cool mixed-media art mag. They continually run their “Call for Creativity” with all sorts of themes so people like you and I can put our creativity to the test. This piece was featured in the March/April 2008 issue. It was small and towards the back but, hey! It was in there!
It’s actually a box that held chip-board alphabet pieces. Nope, I didn’t want them, I just wanted the box with the clear “window” in the lid. Anyone else do that ? I see things all the time and think, “oh, that’s a nice container. I could do something with that”. I attached a fold-out that featured different architectural features of Victorian houses. I love charming old Victorians, so I had a lot of fun making this. And thanks to my sweet friend Missy for letting me stamp her perfect little bird at the bottom!
I love Victorian era stuff! My sister and I were going to decorate our room with that theme, but never got around to it. I love it!
