This vintage ring box belonged to my great-grandmother. It was one of many odds and ends I came across in the old boxes I mentioned in my last post.
Rolling around in the boxes were several faux pearls. I decided to alter the ring box a bit and include the scripture about the “pearl of great price” . Finding vintage items that can convey the meaning of a passage of scripture in an unusual way is very rewarding to me.
I decorated the cover with a tiny bit of vintage sheet music, decorative paper, and prisma-glitter. I also cut out the reference from Matthew 13:45-46 and glued it right above the small button that opens it.
I tied silk ribbon around the hinge and added fibers and a cross charm. This will allow it to be used as an ornament. Anyone else already thinking about Christmas ? I promise it will make you feel cooler 🙂
Inside, I cut apart the verses from Matthew out of an old Bible fallen into disrepair, re-assembled the words carefully on the underside of the lid, and glued a faux pearl in the velvet opening. Lastly, I glued some fiber trims around the edges of the box.
