Hand-Carved Owl Stamp

I’ve always wanted to try and carve my own stamp!

I haven’t been able to find an owl stamp I like so I used this owl I made last year as my inspiration.

I traced it onto the block and filled in the general shapes with a permanent pen.

Then I experimented with the different blades.

Carving is messy but fun!

Here’s the finished owl stamp, inked in brown so you can see it better…

I made some cards by brayering ‘Faded Jeans’ Distress Ink onto the card, rolling it on darker at the top…

Stamped the owl in brown…

Made a mask to cover the owl…

Then I inked this tree trunk stamp (Hero Arts) in the ‘Faded Jeans’ and stamped over the masked owl…

Then I took a white gel pen and added two dots in his eyes and some light snow…

These cards are available in Knox’s Etsy shop.  All proceeds go to Cockayne Syndrome research.

Hope you’re having a great weekend, thanks for coming by!

Love this so much Scarlet!!! Actually have a set of blades and handle that I inherited from my Dad. Just been sitting in the drawer waiting to be used. You’ve encouraged me to get off my duff and use them.
