Art Appreciation for Kids–“The Year With Grandma Moses” by W. Nikola-Lisa

We have three books about Grandma Moses and this one’s our favorite.

This book is enjoyable for all ages and a great introduction to Grandma Moses’ work for children.

The layout is great: A painting on the right with engaging read-aloud text and on the left, excerpts from Moses’ personal memoirs.

As you go through the book, the paintings correspond to the seasonal cycle: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter.

We love to look at them, picking out the small details.

We’ve tried to copy some of Grandma Moses’ paintings before and it isn’t as easy as you might think.

This beloved artist, “discovered” at the age of 78, had incredible natural talent!

Happy Saturday!
