Noah’s Ark at Night

Many skeptics doubt the story of the great flood found in the Bible. The story of Noah and his family living inside an enormous ship for a year and caring for thousands of animals seems implausible to those who think the Bible is a book of fairy tales.

But what do skeptics believe? Holding the belief that the entirety of the known universe came into existence from nothing is not a belief supported by science. And that is where skeptics find themselves: unwilling to believe in a God of miracles, but fully willing to believe in miracles done by nothing/noone.

If we begin with God, however, miracles are explained and expected. A personal, all-powerful God can speak things into existence, sustain them, destroy them, and raise them back up again. The story of Noah’s Ark fits perfectly with God’s eternal power and divine nature we perceive every day (Romans 1:19-20).

We needn’t set science aside, either. For additional confirmation of Noah’s flood, we can look at cross-continent sediment deposition, the order of fossil layers showing rapid burial, and various flood mythologies all over the world which support the biblical record.

On a recent trip to the Ark Encounter, I saw a lighted Noah’s Ark shadowbox in the gift shop. It inspired me to create my own.

A $4 thrifted jewerly box was perfect for this project. Here are some process photos. Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed week!
